Despite advances in medical science, the prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases, such as metabolic diseases, infectious diseases, and types of cancer, continues to increase, and no definitive solution has yet been identified. The primary cause of these problems is changes in people's lifestyles, particularly the neglect of dietary habits emphasized in religious teachings.
This qualitative and descriptive-analytical study extracted these teachings by searching in reliable books of interpretation and hadith, including Tafsir Tasnim (Ayatollah Javadi Amoli) and the Encyclopedia of the Quran and Hadith, and compares and analyzes the content with reliable sources of Persian medicine, including Khulasat Al-Hikmah and Mufareh Al-Qulub, and domestic and international scientific databases, including SID, PubMed, and Google Scholar. It also uses the knowledge of jurisprudence of hadith to assess the authenticity and validity of hadiths.
Maintaining a balanced and varied diet, consuming halal and clean foods, observing proper hand hygiene, remembering God, chewing food thoroughly, eating with mindfulness, and avoiding foods with a hot temperament are among the key principles and practices of healthy eating that are expressed in religious verses and hadiths and are also consistent with scientific evidence from modern and Persian medicine, and their application in lifestyle can help prevent and even treat many chronic metabolic diseases that have become epidemics today.
