Background and Purpose: The environment, as the foundation of human life, plays a key role in public health. This study aimed to investigate the place and importance of environmental health principles in Islamic sources (the Holy Quran, Nahj al-Balagha, and Hadiths), and to propose practical solutions for promoting environmental health.
Materials and Methods: This qualitative research was conducted using content analysis of religious and scientific sources. Keywords such as environment, water hygiene, air hygiene, waste management, and housing hygiene were extracted and analyzed from Quranic verses, Hadiths, and scientific articles.
Results: The results showed that Islam pays attention to specialized aspects of environmental health (e.g., water, air, housing, and waste) and emphasizes concepts, such as cleanliness, stewardship of the Earth, and ecological balance. The environment, as the basis of life for humans and other creatures, holds special importance. In Islam, humans are obligated to establish balance in the environment through contemplation and reflection on natural elements.
Conclusion: Islamic principles can serve as a foundation for designing practical strategies in managing environmental challenges and promoting public health. It is recommended that these principles be applied in environmental health policymaking.
