Background and Purpose: Religious coping is one of the coping methods and in recent decades, some psychologists paid attention to it. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of religious coping strategies on emotional intelligence in women. Materials and Methods: This study is carried out in the form of a quasi-experimental research. The statistical population is comprised of 70 spouses of veterans whose children were studying at the Elementary School of Shahed 5 of Mashhad (educational year 2012-2013). The participants were selected via convenience sampling. Firstly, all participants completed Bar-On emotional intelligence questionnaire. Then 30 people, who got the lowest score in test, were selected. They were divided randomly into two experimental and control groups. Ten sessions of religious coping strategies were held for the experimental group. Then, a post-test was given. Analysis of covariance was used to analyze the test data. Results: Results showed that the experimental group and the control group are significantly different in terms of emotional intelligence test and its subscales. The highest increase is obtained in stress management component with effectiveness of 0.94,adaptability of 0.91, intrapersonal and interpersonal of 0.90 and general mood with effectiveness at 0.74. Conclusion: According to the results, training religious coping strategies can be effective in improving adaptation and capacity to deal with problems. So, this training proposes to increase emotional intelligence in the same group of spouses of veterans.
