Abstract:   (28 Views)
Background and Objectives: Adolescents facing hard-to-treat diseases experience existential suffering that requires finding meaning and discovery. This study aimed to develop a systematic protocol based on Asma ul-Husna to address this need.
Materials and Methods: This qualitative, exploratory study used purposive sampling to recruit 13 adolescents (age range: 9 to 19) in Isfahan, Iran. Data from semi-structured interviews were analyzed via Braun and Clarke's (2006) thematic analysis. The protocol development involved three phases: qualitative data analysis, thematic alignment with Asma ul-Husna, and a three-stage protocol design.
Results: The global theme "Active Search for Meaning in Confronting Illness-Related Suffering" emerged. A three-stage protocol was developed: Stage one (Existential Preparation) for establishing the foundation of spiritual dialogue; Stage two (Cognitive Paradigm Restructuring) for correcting misconceptions about suffering; and Stage three (Active Meaning-Making) for explaining suffering through selected divine names.
Conclusion: This study integrates Islamic concepts into psycho-spiritual interventions for the ill adolescents. The protocol addresses shortcomings in the systematic provision of spiritual care. Future clinical trials should systematically evaluate its effectiveness in integrating Islamic wisdom with health sciences.
